In what is shaping up to be the summer of comeback tours, legendary heavy metal rockers Iron Maiden announced recently that they have plans to join the foray, revealing concert dates for an upcoming North American tour with Alice Cooper.

Looking to inspire a new generation of metal fans, Iron Maiden put the rock community on notice this week of an upcoming concert tour that will be largely based around the group’s most prolific tours, the ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’ tour that reigned supreme in the late 1980’s.

The North American portion of the ‘Maiden England’ tour is expected to kick off in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on June 21st. Alice Cooper, a rock legend in his own right, is scheduled to be the opening act for Iron Maiden starting with the show in Charlotte and at all dates up until a final concert at Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin on July 21st.

Following the Rock Fest showcase, Iron Maiden will be joined by the progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria for the remainder of the tour, starting with show at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 24th and concluding at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on August 18th.

In a press release announcing the upcoming ‘Maiden England’ world tour, vocalist Bruce Dickenson expressed what was nothing short of jubilation over the upcoming showcase.

“We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalog. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited – with many other surprises!”

Dickenson also revealed what Iron Maiden fans are in store for when the legendary heavy metal band takes the stage this summer:

“Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below), including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favorites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can’t wait to get started in Charlotte.”
